W.H.I.M. stands for
With Him In Mind
Our family of three took a 7-day skiing trip to Robert Redford's Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah a few years ago. On day one, within hours, we learned very quickly that were not going to be skiing on this trip. Thankfully, this resort was very "artsy" and offered charcoal drawing classes, candle making classes, smith making jewelry classes, mixed multimedia art classes and a pottery class that took the interest of the three of us instantly. When we flew home from Utah there was hardly anyone in the airport. Something called "COVID 19" had apparently spread rapidly in the 7 days we did not turn on a television and by the time we landed home in Mississippi, "isolation" was a new term. No school. No work. It was a different world.
Like every other parent experiencing the "global pandemic" we needed something to do to prevent depression in our 10-year-old only child, Parker. we discussed how much fun the pottery class was we just took in Utah and decided to order a $99 wheel off of amazon and a brick of clay. After one lesson, we all three sat down and started making pottery! We would take our best pieces to a local pottery studio and paid for our pieces to be fired until COVID closed that company down like it did so many others.
Since people were not celebrating birthdays or any gathering during this time (10 or less people mandate by government) my husband would not get a big birthday bash for his 50th, so we decided to take the financial plunge and bought a kiln and some glazes.
So With Him In Mind was our us finding a creative outlet for our son during a scary time.
We also usually add a cross somewhere or somehow to each piece of pottery we make as our testimony to our faith as well, so it is With Him In Mind that we pass along our resources we've acquired to others in our community to share in the same therapeutic outlet.
